    Interview : 10 questions

    1. When did you start making music, what is/was your motivation to do it?
With 5. The motivation is my interest in the energy of sound.

    2. Tell me something about your living environment and the musical education.
I live in a building where 10 artists have their studios.
I have studied music at the academies of Hamburg and Detmold (Germany).

3.Is making music your profession? What is the context in which you practice music
    nowadays?

Yes, making music is my profession. I am a free-lance composer and producer of electronic and electro-acoustic music.

    4. How do you compose or create music or sound? Have you certain principles, use certain
    styles etc?

No, there is no special style. Mostly I use sounds I find in the world (natural or technical sounds) and these sounds were combined or mixed with sounds of acoustic and/or electronic instruments.

    5. Tell me something about the instruments, technical equipment or tools you use?
As you see in point 4, the most important tool is the microphone and then later my computer, where I work cutting, mixing, changing.

    6. What are the chances of New Media for the music production in general and you personally?
Since the early work of Stockhausen in the sixtees electronic music has influenced every kind of music and very strongly the new pop music.
Personally I like to work with the new medias, because they give the oppurtunity to open new doors for creating new sounds.

    7. How about producing and financing your musical productions?
I made most of my productions for myself. Some of them I was able to sell to radio stations for broadcasting or to play them in concerts at festivals.

    8. Do you work individually as a musician/soundartist or in a group or collaborative?
If you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?

I work mostly individually, but sometimes there are collaborations with other artists which influences the style and the program of the music (for example when I produce music for dance companies or theatre productions).

    9. Is there any group, composer, style or movement which has a lasting influence on making
    music?

No, not nowadays, but in earlier years I have learnt a lot from the ideas and concepts of Stockhausen, Varese, Cage, Ligeti and others.

    10. What are your future plans or dreams as a soundartist or musician?
    Nothing special. Good ideas.
